Behind the Scenes: Chrono Caper

Pictured above, I’m ready to officially announce my next short film!

“Chrono Caper” follows a day in the life of an elderly turtle - who one day wakes up to find that he can hold his breath to stop time… and a band of infamous bank robbers while he’s at it!

Really excited to finally be getting the wheels rolling on this one - stay tuned for more updates :)

First Look: Animated Short (TBA)

Work on my next short has been steadily chugging along since the release of “ABCinema - Take 2” in February.  The official title and synopsis will be announced next week, but in the meantime, here’s the first sneak peek image of what’s in store:

Weekly Inspiration

“Don’t be cynical…  It doesn’t lead anywhere.  Nobody in life gets exactly what they thought they were going to get.  If you work really hard, and you’re kind, amazing things will happen.  I’m telling you - amazing things will happen.”

Behind the Scenes: ABCinema - Take 2

Here’s a quick set of screenshots from behind the scenes of Take 2.  Most of these are raw 3D models before lighting or color correction - while others showcase the production process behind a few of the 2/2.5D shots.

The letter V (for the famous 1902 French film “La Voyage dans la Lune”) was one of the toughest letters to nail, and as you can see above, had to be hand drawn over the original footage with dozens of masked out solid layers composited on top of each other.  The end result was a HD reproduction of the classic shot, with a hand-drawn approach.

Overall, more work went into Take 2 than any other film I’ve done to date - and I’m glad to name this the final chapter in the series.  Thank you all for watching, sharing, and for your continued support :)

Behind the Scenes: ABCinema - Take 2
Currently in the hospital for the next few days looking after my wife post-surgery.  Luckily, everything went as planned - and for ABCinema, that means some extra time to finesse while she rests!  In the spirit of keeping some of my favorite letters secret until the full reveal, above is a still frame of the letter Q - which is a great movie if you can name it, but definitely not as well known as many of its contenders.
Just 7 more letters to go before the Oscars!
